Each issue of this newsletter is guided by the roll of the dice in Gyan Chaupar. This week we’re guided to contemplate about ‘Lust’. Oooops, awkward!
So what is lust? Lust is an intense desire for something or someone that is temporary; without the desire to bond on a deeper level. Some people would associate it with an irrestible wanting of a sexual nature but it’s not always about sex. The way to identify lust is to see if your attraction reduces in proportion to the flaws you find in the being or thing you are lusting over.
As we come to the season where over consumption is encouraged, its a time to reflect on what we are lusting over. Are you wanting to a buy a present for yourself instead of someone else? Might you be lusting over a new shiny thing - be it a mobile phone or a new jumper on discount at your favourite store? Do an experiment on yourself and observe how that lust fades over time. Go on, give it time.
P.S. The antidote to Lust is Respect. So next week we’ll slide down the snake, and you guessed it, we’ll talk about Respect.
Lusting for more? Here we go, with four thoughts and two questions.

The more we are filled with thoughts of lust the less we find true romantic love.

Lust exists as a quality in our life to help us cultivate respect and practice patience. Let the electric storm of lust pass by and emerge as a centered version of yourself.
