In today’s droll of dice in the game of Gyan Chaupar, I’ve landed on Drama.
The word drama comes from the Late Latin drāma, meaning “an act, a theatrical act, a play,” which comes from the Ancient Greek δρᾶμα (drâma) meaning “to act, to take action, to achieve.” A “drama queen” is someone who responds to situations in an exaggerated, melodramatic way. In modern times, drama is often used to describe an actor performing a scene to tell a story. However, drama can also create a fictional narrative, a story that doesn’t have to be played out if we simply face the truth.
It’s ironic to land on drama right after fear. Our fear of something often leads to the creation of drama. Drama arises when we resist accepting what is. Instead of facing the truth, we fear what it might be like, clinging to imagined scenarios of how things could or should be. This resistance creates unnecessary chaos and bad behaviour – what we call drama.
The only way forward is to let go of fear and accept the situation as it is. The only way is through. Drama only makes things more difficult and creates more tension.
No fear – no drama. No drama – more peace.
So, how can we dissolve drama? The key lies in accepting the present moment, facing our fears, and moving through life with calmness and clarity.
If you’d like to reflect on this concept through the game of Gyan Chaupar, feel free to join me on this journey. Play, reflect, and let go of the drama.
